SECURITY SPECIALIST

As a SECURITY SPECIALIST, GE-0080-09, you will plan, organize, and direct security police activities. Plan, organize and direct activities and programs to support base activities such as; security, resource protection,, law enforcement, and information security programs. Direct security police activities. Assign and direct security police personnel in emergency operation, including security, law enforcement, and air base defense; crash and disaster control activities; and civil or internal disorders. Coordinate security police activities/ Advise and coordinate with Active Duty, AFRES, law enforcement, and information security matters. Perform technical security police functions. Analyze security and law enforcement reports and statistics. Monitor and direct security police programs. Monitor Air Force and ANG training standards. APPOINTMENT STATUS:
EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
Bargaining Position Category 1:
Qualified, currently employed Title 32 Federal Technicians working at the location specified in the job announcement. Category 2:
Qualified, currently employed Title 32 Federal Technicians of the Pennsylvania National Guard. (Army and/or Air) Category 3:
Qualified, currently employed Federal Employees (T5) or Federal Technicians (T32) within the Pennsylvania National Guard (Army and/or Air). Category 4:
Qualified current members of the Pennsylvania National Guard. (Army and/or Air) INDEFINITE:
Currently employed permanent technicians MAY BE able to retain their permanent status and based on the current Unit Manning Document (UMD) and projected resourcing this will allow the applicant to occupy this position as a Permanent Promotion or Reassignment. If there are projected changes in the funding resourcing of the advertised position individuals will be placed on a Temporary action such as Temporary Promotion or Temporary Reassignment. These actions may result in the employee having to return to their prior Permanent Position when changes to the manning occur. Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician. Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period. Experience:
All Series GS-0080 personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level. Each applicant must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career level, as cited on page two. Applicants must have the experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Applicants must demonstrate the ability or have endorsements that indicate the ability to learn and perform the cited position's duties. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicant must indicate least 12 months experience in the security career field, to include technical training schools and drill-status working experience. Security Forces and Intelligence training experiences are not required for individuals performing Chief of information Protection duties/responsibilities; Security Officer duties/responsibilities; or, Special Security Representative duties/responsibilities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be further evaluated by the nominating supervisor based on the following competencies considered essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. - Knowledge of Air Force security police programs and basic management functions, such as installation security measures; conventional weapon systems security concepts; air base defense and anti-terrorist tactics; police administration, including law enforcement, resource protection, traffic management, programming and budgeting procedures; information security concepts; principles of deployment operational capabilities, limitations, vulnerabilities, basic phenomenology and technology of electronic and other security equipment; and employment of security police weapons. - Skill in determining adequacy of facilities, equipment, and procedures used to account for, store, transmit, and destroy classified material. - Ability to monitor and evaluate reporting dealing with compromise of classified information and personnel security program documents which includes the special security files. - Ability to evaluate programs by recording, charting, and analyzing the status of discipline, reports of crimes, security violations, and traffic incidents involving ANG members. Experience:
Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
