The Global Marketing Leader (GML), Rheumatology will work with Disease Area Stronghold (DAS) leadership to lead, develop and execute the global commercial strategy for the Rheumatology Disease Areas Stronghold. Key responsibilities include: developing a robust commercial strategy for the DAS; building / refining commercial strategies for pipeline products; and working with DAS leadership to identify and assess new business development opportunities within the DAS strategy.
The GML is expected to effectively partner with R&D and provide strong commercial leadership to Compound Development Teams (CDTs) to ensure the development of highly differentiated products with strong evidence-based value propositions. The GML will work with the CDT to build evidence-based Target Product Profiles (TPPs), ensuring commercial insights are embedded in both the TPP and the resulting development strategies. The GML is also expected to provide a well-informed commercial perspective on product labelling in support of global commercialization and market access strategies.
The GML will establish and lead an early Global Commercial Team (GCT), a cross-functional team consisting of GCSO (Strategic Marketing, Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Global Strategic Analytics, and Health Economics & Pricing), Medical Affairs and other key stakeholders, responsible for developing and executing the global DAS strategy. The GML will partner with regions to ensure the creation and execution of well-coordinated commercial strategies and launch plans, which embed insights from patients, health care providers, and market access stakeholders.
This GML will manage one direct report and work closely with key business partners and matrix-based teams. Other key responsibilities of this role include: collaborating with Global Market Access (GMA) to ensure the portfolio embeds highly differentiated products with strong evidence based value propositions; partnering with Market Research to develop and deliver new insights to shape strategy; developing and communicating a deep understanding of the market and its anticipated evolution over time; understanding, sharing and responding to changes in the competitive landscape; leading the development of forecasts and asset valuation (in collaboration with the Global Strategic Analytics team); progressing critical commercial decisions via appropriate governance committees; and selecting, developing, and retaining superior quality people.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 10 years of progressive pharmaceutical marketing experience are required, with a proven track record of exceptional results, leadership and teamwork. An advanced degree in business or life sciences, experience in rheumatologu and immunology disease areas, and global marketing experience are highly preferred. Leading a pharmaceutical launch and people management experience is desirable, as is experience working with early and late stage R&D programs including drug / clinical development strategy.
Candidate must have strong leadership skills as well as excellent presentation and communication skills. Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills are required, as are the abilities to master complexity and integrate insights into strategies. A demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a highly maxtrixed environment, a proven track record in teamwork and collaboration, and an ability to develop strong business relationships are needed. Demonstrated experience in planning, prioritizing and leading projects, and a proven ability to influence without authority is highly preferred. Experience in managing people (focus on coaching and development) is also preferred.
This position requires up to 30-40% travel (Domestic and International).
